Deontay Wilder is back in action on Saturday night. The former WBC heavyweight champion looks to get closer to another title shot when he travels to London to take on retiring Dereck Chisora in the main event from the O2 Arena.
Wilder, 40, returned from a long layoff last June when he knocked out Tyrell Herndon. Previously, Wilder had lost to Joseph Parker by decision and to Zilei Zhang by brutal knockout. But given his resume and background of violence, Saturday’s win could take him closer to a gold medal.
Meanwhile, Chisora is on a three-fight win streak and is entering what he says will be his final fight. Since being knocked out by Tyson Fury in December 2022, Chisora has posted consecutive wins over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin.
There may be a lot to miss for American fans on Saturday’s undercard, but there is one interesting return to keep an eye on. Ashton Silvey returns to junior welterweight when he takes on Tony Galawicz. Silvey, 22, was a promising prospect when he signed with the MVPs through 2022. Undefeated at 11-0, Silvey was quickly moving toward a title shot when he faced Lucas Bahdi in July 2024. Then he suffered a brutal knockout defeat, from which it took him a long time to recover. Silvey’s first action since that loss came last November on a Misfits Boxing card in Nashville where he scored a fifth-round knockout. Now, he wants to build on that result with another soft engagement.
