- A former champion who hasn’t competed in nearly three years breaks his silence on X.
- The callout came from a fighter who has won two in a row after a tough fight.
- One of boxing’s biggest names may finally be ready to return to the ring.
Tim Tszyu Scored a unanimous decision victory over Dennis Noorja on Saturday night in Australia. He has won two consecutive bouts since losing to Sebastian Fundora via TKO in the rematch. Tziu called out Errol Spence Jr. And it appears the wheels are already in motion for this fight.
Tszyu called Spence a big fish and promised to meet him in the middle of the ring. Spence called on X to respondThat is quite a rarity for the former world champion, who has not fought since being stopped by Terence Crawford in the ninth round of their highly anticipated clash in July 2023.
With the ring rust likely gone for more than three years, Spence will have a notable test on his hands. But considering where both men are in their careers, it seems like a fight that makes sense.
What did Spence say?
Spence appears ready and committed to finally making a comeback. At first, he didn’t seem that interested in fighting. His ex post reading “I hurt you so bad” was direct and confident, fans had not seen this kind of reaction from the former unified welterweight champion before the Crawford loss.
Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) was one of the most dominant welterweights in boxing before his car accident, layoff and then Crawford demolishing him. Crawford was ahead on all three cards at the time of the ninth-round stoppage.
Is there any point in this fight?
Tszyu still has a lot to prove after tough losses to Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev. A win over Spence would add a big name to his victory list. Spence needs to get back into the swing of things. Beating Tszyu shows he is a legitimate threat at 154 pounds.
Reports indicate the battle is set for mid-2026, with AT&T Stadium in Arlington the frontrunner. Crawford, who recently retired, said he thinks Spence will win. Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) defeated Noorja 100-88 on all three scorecards in a shutout on Saturday. This is probably a good step into something as serious as a fight with Spence.
