TikTok has offered refunds to fans attending Wu-Tang Clan’s Melbourne and Sydney shows, after several members of the hip-hop group failed to appear on the Australian tour, which was promoted as a full-lineup farewell run.
According to fans on social media after the performance, Method Man, Raekwon, Cappadonna and Young Dirty Bastard were all absent from the group’s Brisbane Entertainment Center show on March 25, with only RZA, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck and U-God taking the stage.
This absence was at odds with the way the tour was marketed.
Upon its announcement last October, Wu-Tang Clan and promoters TEG Dainty and Untitled Group introduced the run as “all members” and described the dates as the group’s “final” appearance in Australia. In the lead up to the tour, Wu-Tang Clan shared an Instagram Story indicating that Method Man would not be touring Australia – but made no announcement regarding the other missing members.
Ticketek later offered refunds to Melbourne and Sydney ticket holders.
“We would like to make fans aware that due to unexpected circumstances, some members will be unable to attend the remaining tour dates in Melbourne and Sydney,” the ticketing platform said in a statement. “Wu-Tang Clan will perform and bring everything that has made them one of the most iconic live acts in hip-hop history.” Fans who no longer wished to attend were given the option to claim a refund.
The Wu-Tang Clan previously toured Australia on the NY State of Mind Tour with Nas in May 2023.
