Kate Crane described growing up in Baltimore with her parents and sister as a normal childhood – but that changed in an instant the day her father disappeared. Eddie Crane, who owned a trucking business with his former best friend, would always call home to say he was leaving work, and then he would show up shortly after, like clockwork – until he never walked through the door again. Kate’s father went missing when she was 12, but on that September morning in 1987 when her mother told her her father didn’t come home, Kate felt in her bones that he was dead. As the days turned into months and eventually years, few questions were answered, and there were fleeting mentions of Eddie Crane and the investigation into what happened to him. The tragedy loomed large over Kate’s life, but as the 20th anniversary of Eddie Crane’s disappearance approached, she felt she had to do something. In 2007, she was a journalist in New York City, and began her own investigation to find answers to questions that have haunted her since childhood. ‘Whatever Happened to Eddie Crane’ author Kate Crane joins “Forbes True Crime” to discuss her memoir.
