College basketball fans can see if Michigan will win Big Ten’s first national championship since 2000 For as little as $160 (fees included) on Monday nights. That’s according to data provided to me Sunday evening by secondary ticketing marketplace SeatGeek.
On Saturday night in Indianapolis, Michigan dominated Arizona and UConn defeated Illinois in the Final Four to reach the national championship at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Wolverines are looking for their first national championship since 1989, while the Huskies have a chance to secure their third NCAA title in the last four years under coach Dan Hurley, who recently dismissed any speculation of being linked to the job opening at UNC.
Current ticket details for the National Championship
The Midwest is among the top four states where SeatGeek National Championship Game buyers reside, with the state of Michigan accounting for the most buyers at 27%.
Even after UConn defeated Illinois in the Final Four 71–62, Illinois State still ranked second among buyers on the SeatGeek platform. Seventeen percent of purchases have been made by residents of the Prairie State, although many of those buyers are likely Michigan fans – University of Michigan Alumni Club (Greater Chicago) Claims over 25,000 members alone.
Meanwhile, Indiana (12%) and Ohio (6%) rounded out the top four states represented among national championship buyers for Monday’s primetime event, which ends at approximately 8:50 p.m.
National Championship Game Expert Opinion
SeatGeek senior content analyst Max Meyer told me before the national championship that demand for tickets for Monday’s game is up 23% from last year. The average price of a ticket purchase on SeatGeek for the 2026 National Championship is currently $699, while it is $569 for the 2025 NCAA title game between Florida and Houston.
Meyer says of this year’s national championship game, “When you pit Michigan’s most impressive tournament appearance in decades against UConn’s dynasty bid, fans will show up. … As Michigan seeks its first title since 1989 and UConn chases rarefied air with three titles in four years, we expect demand to continue to grow Monday night.”
