Ben Fisher was at St. Mary’s tonight. This is their decision. Thanks for reading this MBM.
Mikel Arteta was asked on TNT: What went wrong? “The result… especially the way we conceded two goals… we had some moments… we conceded the first goal in a very unusual way… the second straight from play too… we had two big chances before Southampton scored… we needed to capitalize on them… (Southampton) are a really good team… you have to congratulate them… you have to adapt to the wind, adapt to injuries… now we have to show what we are made of… the team has something There were moments and they should have taken advantage of it and been at Wembley… We haven’t done that, so it’s our responsibility.”
Meanwhile Arteta does not know the severity of Gabriel’s injury. “We’ll have to assess and see how he is.”
Match winner Shea Charles speaks to TNT. “We went to Wembley a few years ago and got promotion… It’s unbelievable to get to the FA Cup… It shows how good we have been… Playing against the best team in the country… It’s special… Credit to the boys… Don’t be afraid of the opposition… Respect them, but not too much… When you don’t start games your aim is to come on and make an impact… I just try to do what the manager asks me to do… It shows how confident we are, getting into the box… Competitions There are still very good teams in the U.S…. There’s no reason why we can’t step up and challenge them… We can dare to dream!’
Saints boss Tonda Eckert — motionless, as he has been all night, the calmest man in the stadium — speaks to TNT Sports. “It was a big night for us… We knew we had to go deep in some moments… We had some good spells on the ball… It was very well deserved in 90 minutes… Every game has its own story… Some games you might need to win with 70 per cent possession, some games you win in transition or set pieces… I think we showed we are able to play games in different ways… That’s important… A big night for us… Supporters A big night for.”
Semifinal line-up. The Saints are the only club outside the Premier League left in the velvet bag… and yet on tonight’s show, no one would expect to face them. No matter what happens from now on, today’s players have made the memory of the 1976 team proud. This is also a beautiful strip.
Post-match postbag. “When Arsenal’s defense doesn’t perform flawlessly, the attack can’t save them. Luckily for the Gunners, they have been mostly faultless this season. But when fatigue sets in, defensive mistakes become more common” – Kari Tulinius
“Manchester City are nine points behind. And yet it looks like they are favorites for the title. An all-time Arsenal bottle looks imminent” – Joshua Keeling
“Max Dowman will be given free rein of the tuck shop tomorrow, everyone else will be put in detention, then everyone will be given a diet of double physics next week” – Charles Antonakis
“Southampton P&O have booked their place in the semi-finals” – Gary Byrne
Ross Stewart, who scored with a clever and confident touch, speaks to TNT Sports. “Incredible… We talked about what it would mean for the club… Beating the best team in Europe at the moment… It’s an incredible feeling… What a night, we’ll enjoy it! … Credit goes to the manager… Tactically he’s been incredible… We saw a threat on the counter… We had to bide our time… We’re going to Wembley! … Incredible… (scoring) was a great feeling… What a day (Wembley) will be for the club… We’ve got league business to take care of.” But we will enjoy it!
Arsenal were dreaming of a quadruple a fortnight ago. Now, in short, their trophy hopes are limited to only (!) the Premier League and the Champions League. But tonight is about Southampton. They set about the league leaders from the start, deservedly took the lead at the break, and did not let their heads get down when Arsenal equalised. They defended stubbornly, but attacked with aggression and could have easily scored more with the two excellent finishes they managed to achieve. St Mary’s rejoice: the home heroes are heading to Wembley again, 50 years after their greatest success. Even in 1976, Southampton were a second-tier team. They can’t do it again, can they? On this evidence, nothing is out of the question. they have been Fabulous.
Full time: Southampton 2-1 Arsenal
Southampton are in the FA Cup semi-finals! And that’s fair too!
90 min +7: The arsenal lasts a long time. they have to. Gyökeres could not gather the ball on the right side and Wood fired it wide for a goal kick. He also celebrates this like a goal. Before Peretz can restart the game, Quercy comes in for Manning.
90 min +6: Saint takes the corner short. Of course they do. Charles and Larin think they have scored another victory, but it is a goal kick.
90 minutes +5: Fellows dribbles hard down the right, creates some space ahead of Calafiori, and fires a shot on goal from a tight angle. Kepa crossed the ball over the bar. corner.
90 mins +4: Dowman was fouled by Charles. Martinelli wants to take a quick free kick, and pushes the referee out of the way! He has made a booking for his sauce. The free kick is worked to the right, then to the back, where Calafiori hits the bar from distance. Southampton is now very close to Wembley!
90 mins +3: Maduke comes in from the right and fires a wild shot over the bar. He’s claiming it took a deflection, and wants a corner… but the officials don’t agree, and he can’t find one.
90 mins +2: On TNT Sports, Lucy Ward chose Scienza as her player of the match. Meanwhile on the pitch, Fellows dances down the right and has the opportunity to shoot, but thinks too much. He’s dispossessed, and Martinelli turns around at the other end, cuts in from the left and shoots low… but not particularly hard. Easy for Peretz.
90 mins +1: Gyöckeres fired a stupid free kick straight into the Southampton wall. what a waste. Especially when the ball ends up back at the feet of Kepa, who kicks for a throw.

87 minutes: Everyone at St. Mary’s is now in a state of extreme anxiety in one way or another. The tension is palpable! Now a big shock is about to happen.
86 minutes: Arsenal are claiming that Larin, in an offside position, was in Kepa’s line of sight. but it’s not like that. The target is standing.
Target Southampton 2-1 Arsenal (Charles 85)
This is an amazing goal! Fellows slide in from the right. He reaches the edge of the box, drawing five defenders towards him. He then makes a pass to Charles on his left. Charles takes a touch, opens his body, moves his feet, and drives a forensic shot past Kepa and inside, just wide of the base of the left-hand post!
84 minutes: The resulting corner is taken back to the left flank and rolled infield for Martinelli to fire a low drive inches wide of goal from the left-hand side of the Dee. Peretz It is possible He’s been covered, but he’ll be glad he flew that far.
83 minutes: Dowman has been given a lot of time and space on the right side of the Southampton D. He aims a powerful curler into the top left. Peretz spreads wide to swing around the post. Great game all around. Dowman is a real talent, like this is breaking news.
82 minutes: Room for Charles on the right. He has Larin unmarked, but he hesitates with the pass and misses another chance.
80 minutes: Azaz stole the ball at the center circle and advanced down the inside left. He had a chance to pass to Larin down the channel, but he overstepped the pass. Larin, not yet in the game, shows some frustration. That was a promising situation.
79 minutes: Zubimendi came on for Havertz, who headed in a nice assist.
78 minutes: Havertz stole the ball from Manning on Arsenal’s right and fed Maduke, who once again burst into the box, took a heavy touch and ran out for a goal kick. Meanwhile on the Arsenal bench, Gabriel has a large ice pack on his knee.
76 minutes: Comes in place of Charles Bragg.
75 minutes: Brie’s corner was fouled by Kepa under pressure from Udogi. It wasn’t the most solid goalkeeping, but it gets the job done.
74 minutes: The teammate easily passes Calafiori forward on the right. He loops a cross at the far post, where White is forced to kneel back for a corner. Brie will take it.
72 minutes: Gabriel goes down holding his left knee. Physio comes. Mikel Arteta takes the opportunity to give his team an impromptu team-talk. Then Gabriel gets back up and wanders off. Saliba takes his place.
71 minutes: Southampton responded with a double change. Stewart and Scienza are replaced by Larin and Edozie.
70 minutes: The Saints had a chance to double their lead. But they couldn’t quite manage it, and that triple substitution completely changed the momentum. The mood inside St. Mary’s is very different now.
Target SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 ARSENAL (GOKARES 68)
Arsenal are turning up the pressure, and now it’s paying off. Gabriel plays a pass down the inside-left channel to free Havertz, who draws Peretz at the near post before cutting back for Giocares, who can’t miss from six yards. The league leaders are at the level!
66 minutes: Harwood-Bellis threw the ball at a distance of 35 yards. Dowman intercepts and dribbles. He tries to pass Gyöckeres to his right, but the pass goes wrong and the Saints clear their lines.
65 minutes: Maduke turns on the jets to cross Wood on the right. But he takes a heavy touch, and the ball goes out for a goal kick. As all this happens, Maduke moves forward, but he is not looking for any punishment, making no claims.
63 minutes: …but that lead is uncertain, and Arsenal will almost erase it! Dowman dribbles brilliantly down the inside-right channel. His dink through the middle is only half-cleared, and Martinelli collects the ball before firing it over the bar from the edge of the box. A fine cup tie swings this way and that, delicately balanced.
