Former US Open champion Michelle Wie West says she is coming out of retirement to play in major tournaments later this year.
West is a five-time winner on the LGPA Tour and her only major win came at Pinehurst in 2014.
The 36-year-old last played on the US Open Tour three years ago, but he aims to use his final year of eligibility to play again in the major starting on June 4 in Pacific Palisades, California.
Players who win the US Open are invited back to compete for the next 10 years, but Vee West’s tenure was extended by two years, to 2026, due to maternity leave.
“With one final year of eligibility remaining from my win in 2014 and the Championships moving to an iconic venue that means so much to me, I’m excited to announce that I will make it to the US Women’s Open at Riviera in June,” she wrote on X.
Wi West rose to prominence at an early age and was inspired to emulate the sporting success of 15-time men’s major winner Tiger Woods.
She was the youngest to win an adult USGA championship at age 13, and the youngest to make the cut in an LPGA major at the 2003 Kraft Nabisco at age 14.
After more than 20 years in the spotlight, Vi West, who has two children, left the sport, saying his body was struggling to cope with the rigors of professional golf.
Vee West’s return to the Tour follows her announcement in February that she would compete in the women’s edition of TGL later in the year.
