MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke was arrested Wednesday in Arkansas on charges of speeding and possession of a controlled substance.
Injuries have limited Clark to just two games this season, and Memphis has held him out for the rest of the season.
“I’m aware of the report, but I have no comment,” Grizzlies coach Tuomas Isalo said before Memphis’ game against New York on Wednesday night.
The Cross County Sheriff’s Department booked Clark into jail Wednesday afternoon on charges of improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, exceeding the speed limit and trafficking in a controlled substance. The department’s website also includes a photo of the booking for Clark.
The 6-foot-7 forward is in his seventh season with Gonzaga. Clarke has sat out 73 games this season after originally sitting out 26 games while recovering from surgery on his right knee. He played two matches in December and then suffered a right calf strain.
The Grizzlies announced on March 24 that Clark was continuing his rehabilitation but recent tests showed he needed more treatment before being cleared for “high-intensity court work”. The team said Clark is out for the remainder of the season and is expected to return next season.
