Fred has again… shared his epic B2B set with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, the full performance of which is now streaming on YouTube. Watch the show below.
The last show of Fred’s already incredible USB002 tour, set for 27 February at London’s Alexandra Palace, marks Bangalter’s second public performance in 20 years, the first performance having taken place just a few months earlier when he performed side by side with Fred, Busy P and Ero Alkan at the Because Music 20th Anniversary Celebration at the Center Pompidou in Paris.
The two-hour alt-Pally show, ending with a purely enjoyable rendition of Daft Punk’s 2000 all-timer “One More Time,” got everyone, and especially Fred, in their element.
At the end of the performance the producer not only called the set “the greatest show of my life”, but on Saturday (March 28) he commented about the show on Instagram, he said: “So I had a dream last week, and basically it was all, I was 80 years old, sitting in like a care home, and I kept saying to the nurses ‘Just play it again please.’ And I was sitting there watching the USB show with Thomas over and over again. And then I sat there like ‘Look it’s me!’ I’m there!’
The post continues, “Usually I have a rule that I don’t look back at anything.” “I just work, and then try to stay in the present and just keep working on writing music, like I’ve still never seen our Glastonbury set. Or most things TBH, but yeah, with this, I just can’t stop. Probably because a lot of it isn’t my music, so it’s not subject to my normally very critical inner voice about stuff. Instead I’m just a fan who’s at a kind of human moment more than anything else. More proud.
“Now I know in some ways this sounds somewhat morbid, but let me tell you, when I woke up one thing was very clear. This was not a nightmare, it was definitely a dream.”
