Things were quiet on the injury front after Jackson Chourio was revealed with a fracture in his hand on the very first day.
A little too quiet.
Just when you thought you had your favorite IL property under wraps for long enough, there was a flood of new talent over the weekend. The biggest setbacks came to Juan Soto (strained calf), Mookie Betts (strained obliques), and Hunter Brown (strained shoulder), who I’ve listed in reverse order of how much time they could miss. Other outs included Cade Horton (arm strain), Matthew Boyd (biceps strain), and Alejandro Kirk (fractured thumb).
The first three should be stored explicitly, and the latter three come pretty close, at least in some formats. But then again, you’ve probably already dedicated IL space to other players. How do you create space?
That’s why these rankings exist: to help you prioritize. They are not the same for everyone, as there can be no ranked list, but they can at least serve as a check on your assumptions. To be transparent about my own biases, I prefer better players over shorter time periods, not wanting to dedicate valuable IL space to a player I can cut as soon as he’s activated.
Too valuable to drop, period
it’s also really hard to drop
still a priority at some level
Hiding is totally a luxury
