One of the final performances scheduled for the first night of Coachella has been canceled due to poor weather conditions.
Anima, the Italian American DJ who is half of the EDM duo Tale of Us, was set to perform on the main stage at midnight, about 90 minutes after Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set.
But at 12:17 a.m., the festival informed attendees of a “schedule update.”
“Due to high wind conditions impacting Anima’s stage production, she is unable to perform,” the statement said, which was posted online and sent as a push notification through the Coachella app. “Coachella and Anima have made this decision with your safety as a priority. Further updates to come.”
Those watching the livestream at home may have learned that the set was canceled when a note reading “Stage Wrapped” appeared below “Main Stage”.
It is unclear whether Anima’s performance will be rescheduled for another time in the festival, which runs through Sunday night (and is repeated the following weekend).
Diversity A representative for Anima has been contacted for comment.
This year’s Coachella music festival kicked off on Friday, with performances from artists like Dijon, Disclosure and Turnstile as well as headliner Carpenter, who brought out celebrity guests Susan Sarandon and Will Ferrell and heated up the desert with hits like “Espresso” and “Manchild.”
The entertainment will continue throughout the weekend, with additional headliners Justin Bieber and Karol G at Coachella the following weekend, April 17 to 19, with the same line-up of artists.
