The Cannes Film Festival market is gearing up for its 2026 edition, running from May 12-20, with innovations and excellences designed to “confirm” the Marché du Film’s position as the “premier hub where creativity, technology and the film industry unite”, organizers said on Thursday. This year’s offerings include the market’s first Creator Economy Summit and what Marche calls “the largest VP forum ever held in the film market.”
The Immersive Competition & Markets and its second edition, the AI for Talent Summit, return this year. Additionally, the market is promoting a new online experience from Synendo.
“We advocate innovation that helps the development of artistic creativity and the industry as a whole,” said Guillaume Esmiol, executive director of the Marché du Film. “At Marche, we are dedicated to supporting and driving innovation that continually reshapes the way films are conceived, produced and distributed, from technological advancements to a broader mindset that reimagines business models, partnerships and relationships.”
Here’s what will be shown at the Marché du Film in Cannes this year.
Village Innovation returns with XL Virtual Production Demo Stage
Organizers highlight, “Following last year’s successful debut, the Village returns to the Pantierro side of the Innovation Village International, again serving as the main hub for the Marché du Film’s innovation-focused program, Cannes Next.” They pledged to include hands-on virtual production demonstrations on the largest virtual production platform ever offered at the film market.
AI for Talent Summit Year 2
AI is launching what it calls “an enhanced version” of the Market for Talent Summit, which this time will be held over two mornings, namely Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16. It’s an event “by invitation only for top executives from the film and tech sectors” that promises to bring together leading tech companies and creative talent to explore the latest real-world applications of AI in creative and business processes. This year’s edition will focus on three key themes: integrating AI into production workflows, ethical and responsible use of AI and education.

mass market expansion
This comprehensive offering has expanded to the Carlton Hotel and a new demo space has been introduced this year. Additionally, the Festival de Cannes’ immersive competition takes a new turn this year, “introducing the first competition of its kind at a major international festival, specifically designed for shared audience experiences, in a newly renovated space capable of hosting 80 to 225 participants simultaneously,” organizers said. “Along with the 11-day immersive competition, Market aims to be the most efficient platform for location-based immersive delivery, featuring high-impact pitching sessions, curated networking events and tangible business opportunities.”
Creator Economy Summit launched
According to organizers, this new part of the Marché du Film will “explore the opportunities between traditional cinema and the ‘maker economy’.” “As digital content creators expand into long-form storytelling and filmmaking, this summit will offer a comprehensive overview of how the two worlds connect – from adopting digital IP into cinematic projects and discovering emerging talent, to engaging audiences and exploring innovative marketing strategies that drive communities to theaters.”
An updated online platform
Synando, the industry database and networking platform created by the Marché du Film, relaunched earlier this year with new tools and advanced features. “The Marché du Film online platform, created in 2020 for remote participants, will now be completely transferred to Synendo’s renovated system,” organizers said. “Now operating as the Marché du Film by Synendo, the developed platform will bring together online screenings, live and catch-up conference video and networking tools within a single, integrated ‘market environment’.”
