Heaven Its second season ended this week, taking a huge leap of faith into an entirely different genre of sci-fi. we already knew this Heaven It was previously coming back for Season 3, in what will be its final season. This wasn’t a demand from Hulu or Disney, it was always showrunner Dan Fogelman’s plan, so it’s ending on its own terms. but when Is Is it ending? There’s some good news on that front in a new update.
Exactly a week earlier, on March 21, Fogelman shared on instagram The script for season 3 was already finished Heaven The season 2 finale had also aired. This is a quick schedule compared to almost all streaming releases today, and the end result is that we get to see a release date for Season 3 sooner. From that script news, we know when it should happen.
- For season 2, those scripts were finished by March 2025, and the show went into production in April 2025. This resulted in a premiere date of February 23, 2026, exactly 13 months after Season 1.
- So, it’s the same here. The script for Season 3 was finished in March 2026. Production is likely to begin soon, if not within this month, and that could lead to a February 2027 release date, a year after the Season 2 premiere. I think, 13 months, worst case scenario.
Heaven There was a significant increase in viewership between seasons, with Season 1 averaging 7 million global views for its premiere week compared to Season 2’s 18 million, and its Nielsen peak minutes doubled.
Heaven Season 1 was nominated for Best Drama at the Emmys, which, of course, the pit won, but it was an interesting split between the shows released annually in that category (Paradise, The Diplomat, The Pit, Slow Horses) and shows with increasing gaps between seasons (Endor, The Last of Us, Severance, The White Lotus). This was quite a disparity. We will have to see whether Heaven Season 2 received another nomination. This year, no andor, white lotus or i believe separation Qualify, because the first is over and the second and third have mega spread-out seasons. Still, winning will be a very difficult task. Fans as well as critics have loved this season, giving it a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, higher than Season 1.
Heaven is a completely wild show that started out as a grounded vision of at least a potentially plausible apocalypse (with one of the best world-views ever presented with “The Day”), and now it’s (spoiler) leapt into parallel universe, omniscient AI, time-travel stories that have taken things in a whole new direction. Season 3 should be something worth watching.
