A murder investigation has been launched into the death of politician Ann Widdicombe after the 78-year-old woman was found with serious injuries at her Dartmoor home on Thursday.
Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement that a 26-year-old man was in custody.
The Reform UK spokeswoman was last seen in public on Wednesday in an interview on TalkTV.
