Modern smartphones have greatly improved charging speeds, allowing them to take less time to charge despite having larger batteries than earlier models. This is because many Major Smartphone Manufacturers Have come with their own proprietary fast charging standards, such as SuperVOOC by OnePlus and FlashCharge by Vivo. Buying a phone that offers the fastest charging speeds means you can instantly fully recharge the device at any time of the day, ensuring you’re not stranded. This also means you don’t need to connect your device to the charger before you go to sleep, as it only takes a few minutes to charge, and this can be done in the morning when you’re getting yourself ready to go out.
However, with so many smartphones being launched every year, it can be difficult to keep track of which model offers the fastest charging. Luckily, we’ve done extensive research by combing through dozens of press releases and device announcement articles from various publications to find the five phones that offer the fastest charging speeds ever. If you want full details on how we selected these phones, we have a dedicated methodology section at the end of the article.
realme gt3
Announced at MWC 2023 in February, the Realme GT3 (also known as GT Neo5 in China) set the standard across the industry phone with fastest charging speed Sometimes. Although it came in two variants, one of which supported fast charging speeds of up to 150 W, there was also a model that was capable of 240 W wired charging via USB-C using the SuperVOOC charging standard. According to the Chinese smartphone maker, the 240 W SuperVOOC charger can take the device from 0 to 100 percent in just nine minutes and 30 seconds.
The phone had a 4,600 mAh battery and it took only 80 seconds to charge from 0 to 20 percent. According to the manufacturer, just 30 seconds of charge was enough to give you two hours of call time, three hours of music playback or one hour of video playback. It was the first phone to achieve 240W charging speed and as expected, it raised concerns Will fast charging damage the battery. On top of that, the company said that it can retain at least 80 percent of its capacity after 1,600 charge cycles.
redmi note 12 explorer
Since Xiaomi doesn’t officially sell its phones in the US, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer (also known as the Discovery Edition), released in November 2022, is another device that offers faster charging speeds but was not officially available in the States. However, if you want a phone with the fastest charging battery, this was one of the best options for you. The phone supports fast charging speeds of up to 210W via USB-C, making it one of the first models in the market capable of recharging the battery in less than 10 minutes. Thanks to the 210 W speed, the phone was fully charged in just 9 minutes, even faster than the GT3.
But that’s because it had a slightly smaller 4,300 mAh battery, whereas the Realme model has a 4,600 mAh cell. If you’re in a hurry, you don’t have to wait the full 9 minutes, however, as it will only take 5 minutes for the battery to charge up to 66 percent. To support these fast speeds, the phone used the company’s proprietary charging standard, which achieved 210 W at 3.5 A using three channels of 20 V each. The interesting thing about the Redmi Note 12 Explorer is that it was priced at around $330 when it first came out.
Vivo iQOO 11S
So far, our list of smartphones with the fastest charging speeds is mainly from Chinese smartphone companies. Well, Vivo iQOO 11S, slated to launch in 2023, is another one. Despite being launched almost three years ago, it still ranks among the fastest charging smartphones, with one of the major selling points of the phone being the support for 200W charging speeds.
It was powered by two 2,350 mAh batteries, resulting in a total capacity of 4,700 mAh. Using the 200W FlashCharge technology, you can charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent in just 19 minutes, which wasn’t as fast as the other phones discussed above, but it’s enough to help the iQOO 11S feature on this list. The iQOO 11S also supports 50 W wireless charging, which is faster than what Apple’s current flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max supports via a USB-C cable. Apart from the fast charging speed, the iQOO 11S has Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, making it one of the best performing smartphones of the year.
ZTE Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro+
The race to launch phones with the fastest charging speeds was hot between 2020 and 2023, and so most of the phones we have discussed so far are from that era. Like the other devices we have discussed, the RedMagic 8 Pro+ is slated to launch in late 2022 at the time. It was launched alongside its smaller RedMagic 8 Pro brother, and both of them were devices from the company targeting the flagship segment running on Qualcomm’s high-end mobile chips at the time. The 8 Pro+ has a smaller 5,000 mAh battery, while the 8 Pro has a 6,000 mAh battery.
However, the 8 Pro+ is known to offer 165W charging speeds, and thanks to the GaN charger that came out of the box, the phone only took 14 minutes to fully charge its 5,000 mAh battery. Additionally, Nubia integrated a proprietary R2 chip with the flagship Snapdragon chipset, making it one of the best gaming smartphones of that year.
OnePlus 10T
Unlike the other phones above, the OnePlus 10T was officially launched in the US as well as other markets around the world. OnePlus to unveil OnePlus 10T in August 2022Its charging speed is one of its key features on board. Officially, the OnePlus 10T supports fast charging speeds of up to 150 W using the SuperVOOC standard. However, for the US market, the phone’s fast charging speed was limited to 125 W due to limitations on low voltage 110 V and 120 V outlets.
With a 4,800mAh battery, the 10T is claimed to be fully charged in just 19 minutes when charged at the full 150W speed. But even if you live in the US, the 125W charging speed means you’ll only waste a minute, as it takes 20 minutes to fully charge an empty battery. Interestingly, although the phone only supported 150W speeds, it shipped with a 160W SuperVOOC power adapter out of the box.
And despite only supporting 125W charging speeds in the US, you’ll be hard-pressed to find new options on the market today that can match the fast charging speeds of the OnePlus 10T. Even the company’s latest flagship, the OnePlus 15, tops out at 100 watts despite its larger 7,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery.
How we chose these phones
To select the phones with the fastest charging speeds, we searched various sources on the internet, including media sites and official company websites. Our main goal was to find phones with the fastest official charging speeds that have been launched till date, not just recently launched models. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone charging speed wars were in full swing during the 2020-2023 era, and so most of our picks are from that time.
The phones we have listed are the result of extensive research across various sites covering smartphones, including GSMArena, PhoneArena, and GizChina. We’ve arranged these phones by their official fast charging speeds, from fastest to slowest.
